A Komodo phinisi for a big family of 14 to 22 people, and the cabin that takes four

Updated 20 October 2026

A big family of 14 to 22 fits on one phinisi. On Lamborajo 2 a private 3D2N costs IDR 97,000,000 (≈ USD 5,951) for 14 and IDR 113,000,000 (≈ USD 6,933) for 22, every cabin with a private bathroom. Lamborajo 1 costs IDR 52,000,000 (≈ USD 3,190) for 22, with shared bathrooms in four of six cabins.

Family of four: four cabins that take four

Lamborajo 2 has one Family Ocean View cabin, on the main deck, with a queen bed and 2 extra beds. It costs IDR 7,200,000 (≈ USD 442) per person for the first two guests on the open trip, and the bathroom is private. This is the cabin we would give a family of four.

Lamborajo 1 has two cabins that take four. The Master Ocean has a queen bed, 2 extra single beds and a private bathroom, at IDR 4,550,000 (≈ USD 279) per person for the first two guests. The Full Ocean is cheaper, at IDR 3,550,000 (≈ USD 218), but its bathroom is shared.

On Lamborajo 3 the four-guest cabins are the two Royal Master Ocean cabins on the upper deck: a queen bed, 2 extra beds, a jacuzzi and a private balcony, at IDR 10,950,000 (≈ USD 672) per person for the first two.

Big family of 14 to 22: the route at a family's pace

For 14 to 22 relatives the printed private 3D2N needs no new stop, only a decision about who climbs. Day 1 brings Kelor's 15 to 30 minute hill, the Manjarite snorkel and Kalong at dusk, which grandparents watch from the deck. Day 2 opens at Padar before sunrise; the climbers go up and the rest stay aboard. Pink Beach and Taka Makassar have shallow water for children, Komodo is a ranger-led walk, and Manta Point is for confident swimmers. Day 3 ends in Labuan Bajo around midday.

Sleeping 22 on Lamborajo 2 works out cabin by cabin: five Superior cabins of 3, the Family Ocean View for 4 and two Master Ocean View cabins of 3 make 25 beds, so 22 relatives leave three spare. On Lamborajo 3 the limit is exactly 22.

Price examples, private 3D2N, whole boat: 14 relatives pay IDR 97,000,000 (≈ USD 5,951) on Lamborajo 2 or IDR 45,000,000 (≈ USD 2,761) on Lamborajo 1. For 22 the totals are IDR 113,000,000 (≈ USD 6,933) and IDR 52,000,000 (≈ USD 3,190). The whole-boat price page carries every band, and the cabins page compares the family cabins.

Ages, free places and the price for guests 3 and 4

A child under 3 travels free. From 3, the full fare applies and the child counts as a guest.

Extra beds are available in selected cabins on request, and the price for guests 3 and 4 is confirmed in writing. We print no figure for it here: the seat prices above cover the first two guests in a cabin, and no add-guest price is published for an open-trip cabin. Name the cabin you want and the price comes back in writing before you pay.

On a private charter the question goes away. The whole-boat band covers the head count, and the family decides who sleeps where. Two parents, two children and two grandparents make 6 guests, which still pays the 12-guest total. A baby in the party adds nothing to it.

Stops with children: which ones need a decision

Most stops need no decision. Pink Beach and Taka Makassar have shallow reef close to the shore, and Taka Makassar suits most snorkelers. Kelor is a short, steep hill, 15 to 30 minutes on foot.

Three stops call for a parent's judgment. Padar is a 25 to 45 minute climb to the main viewpoint, on a path that is loose and steep in places. On Komodo you walk with a ranger, and most day itineraries take the shorter trails. Manta Point has strong currents and suits confident swimmers; a life jacket is advised for anyone who is not one.

The choice of boat changes none of this. All three print the same 7 to 10 knots, and the captain sets the order of stops on the day.

Whole boat for three generations

Three generations fit a whole boat more easily than one cabin. Lamborajo 2 takes up to 25 guests in 8 cabins, each with a private bathroom and hot water, and its two Master Ocean View cabins add a private balcony for the grandparents.

Lamborajo 1 costs less for the same party, but four of its six cabins share bathrooms, the Full Ocean among them. With small children, that is the limit to weigh.

For 12 guests the whole boat comes to IDR 3,580,000 (≈ USD 220) each on Lamborajo 1 and IDR 7,330,000 (≈ USD 450) on Lamborajo 2, 3D2N, before park tickets and the local guide. With room for 24 on Lamborajo 1 and 25 on Lamborajo 2, an extended family rarely needs a second boat.
