Kanawa Island and the Lamborajo Boats

Updated 20 October 2026

Kanawa is not printed on any Lamborajo rate card we hold. It is a small island with white sand beaches and shallow coral, about 1 to 1.5 hours by boat from Labuan Bajo. If a route includes it, your written itinerary says so before you pay.

Kanawa on the Lamborajo cards: not printed

The owner's cards for Lamborajo 1, 2 and 3 do not print Kanawa on any route. The stops they name are Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar and Manta Point.

This page therefore says nothing about what a Lamborajo does at Kanawa, because the cards say nothing. Guests ask, and a clear answer is shorter than a thread of messages.

The last morning of a 3D2N is a stop confirmed in writing, and so is the first afternoon of a 4D3N. Both are named in your quote, not on this site.

What Kanawa is

Kanawa is a small island west of the large dragon islands, with white sand beaches. Shallow coral reefs make it an easy first snorkel, at depths of about 1 to 6 meters and with a mild current.

A session of 45 to 90 minutes is typical, and the island is popular with day trips, so it can be busy in the high season of July and August.

The sail from Labuan Bajo takes roughly 1 to 1.5 hours. All three Lamborajo boats print the same 7 to 10 knots, so the choice of boat does not change it.

Asking for it in a private quote

A private charter can carry a request for a particular stop; the open trip follows its printed order. Put Kanawa in the first message together with the trip length, dates and head count.

Our reply is a written itinerary that says whether the island fits the days. A route change that adds sailing time can change the quote, and nothing is added without a written line.

Any day inside the national park carries the entry ticket, which is never in a fare.

The snorkel stops that are printed

Manjarite is the first printed snorkel, after Kelor on private day 1. Pink Beach follows on day 2, with the reef close to the sand, and Taka Makassar adds shallow water around the sandbar.

Manta Point is the fourth, and the hardest: a guided drift in a strong current for confident swimmers.

Snorkeling equipment is on the list of Lamborajo 1, 2 and 3, and the private fare includes it.

FAQ

Is Kanawa on the Lamborajo route?

No rate card we hold prints it. The route is confirmed in writing, and Kanawa appears only if your itinerary names it.

How far is Kanawa from Labuan Bajo?

Roughly 1 to 1.5 hours by boat, at the 7 to 10 knots that all three Lamborajo boats print.

Is Kanawa good for a first snorkel?

Yes. The reef is shallow, at about 1 to 6 meters, with a mild current. That describes the island, not a Lamborajo itinerary.

Which printed Lamborajo stop is closest to Kanawa for snorkeling?

Pink Beach on day 2, with reef close to the sand, and Manjarite on private day 1.
