How to book a Komodo phinisi: from the first WhatsApp to boarding

Booking takes four steps. Send your boat choice (or "not sure"), dates, guests and private or open trip. Receive a written quote. Pay the 50 percent deposit. Pay the balance 30 days before sailing. PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia issues the quote; the boat's owner runs the trip.
Four steps from a boat choice to a written quote
The first message carries four things: the boat, the dates, the number of guests, and whether the trip is private or an open-trip cabin. Write Lamborajo 1, 2 or 3, or write not sure; both are valid first messages, and the answer to "not sure" is a recommendation with numbers.
- Step 1: you send the boat choice, dates, guests and format on WhatsApp.
- Step 2: our team replies with a written quote that names the boat, the cabins, the dates, the price and what is included.
- Step 3: you pay the deposit of 50 percent, which confirms the booking.
- Step 4: you pay the balance 30 days before sailing.
You choose the boat in step 1. A change of boat after the quote is a new quote, with the price of the new boat. Dates and cabins can move inside the terms below.

Names, passports and cabin choices
After the deposit we ask for each guest's name as it appears on the passport or ID, and for the ID details we need before sailing. Spelling matters because a park ticket is issued per visitor.
Cabins are assigned by type. On the open trip you name the cabin type you booked, such as a Share Cabin, a Superior or a Master Ocean; on a private charter you decide who sleeps where, and the cabin plan is confirmed in writing. Lamborajo 3 Superior cabins take 2 guests and have no extra bed, so a party of 3 needs a cabin that takes 3.
Tell us about children at booking. Children under 3 travel free with a parent or guardian, and the full fare applies from age 3.
Deposit and balance, boat by boat
The terms are the same for Lamborajo 1, Lamborajo 2 and Lamborajo 3. They are the terms of PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, the booking partner, not the shipowner's own terms, and they are written into your quote.
The deposit is 50 percent of the total. The balance is due 30 days before sailing. A booking made inside that window is paid in full when you confirm it.
The only part that differs by boat is the amount. A deposit on a 12-guest 3D2N charter of Lamborajo 1 is 50 percent of IDR 43,000,000 (≈ USD 2,638); on Lamborajo 3 it is 50 percent of IDR 121,000,000 (≈ USD 7,423). The table below states the rule.

Deposit 50% to confirm, balance 30 days before departure. You can also settle the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine.
Moving a date or canceling
A cancellation 60 days or more before sailing refunds 50 percent. One between 30 and 59 days before refunds 25 percent. The table gives every window, including the ones where nothing is refunded.
A date change is free in the earliest window. Inside the reschedule window it costs IDR 500,000, and the table shows where that window starts. A change in the last days before sailing is treated as a cancellation.
Travel insurance is recommended and is not included in any fare. Look for cover that includes cancellation and medical evacuation.

If we cancel, you are refunded 100 percent · Refunds are paid within 14 days.
How to pay
The methods are listed below. A card payment link is sent with the invoice and carries the processor's fee. Bank transfer in rupiah, Wise, Revolut, PayPal, QRIS and Alipay are on the list; WeChat Pay goes through a payment partner.
Pay to the account named in your quote and no other. If a payment instruction ever arrives from anywhere else, check it against the written quote before sending money.
Groups that split the bill tell us at booking how many payers there are. The deposit and the balance dates stay the same for the booking as a whole.
Payment
Secure payment by Stripe, Airwallex, American Express, Visa, Mastercard.
Fees: card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC card machine 3%. Your issuing bank may add its own charges.
A boat that cannot sail, and who runs it
If the boat cannot sail because of a breakdown or an order from the harbor master or the park, we provide a phinisi of the same class or higher on the same dates at no extra cost. The alternative is a full refund within 14 days.
